Christmas Felts

I’ve finally getting around to posting photos of some of the Christmas’y’ felts I’ve been working on.  I’m in the process of photographing them and am hoping to get them listed in the shop by this afternoon!  Here are some more little flowers I’ve been working on to add to clips and headbands which will also be listed for sale in the shop probably by the end of the week.

Oh, and one more thing!  I almost forgot.  The beginning of what will be a necklace for a little girl.  It’s hard to tell how big it is since there’s nothing to gauge it by, but it’s quite small, and will be perfect for little girls – and soft too!  I love it so much I may have to make larger ones for us bigger girls!

Thankful

EDIT: I’m very much a humble girl and very thankful for what I have, so please keep that in mind while reading this post, as I’m not bragging(I’m not crazy about braggers – who is really?), I’m just sharing my feelings regarding winning and how thankful I am when that happens.

As many of you know who’ve read this blog, or who know me, you know I absolutely adore entering giveaways and sweepstakes. And thanks to modern technology I’ve gotten pretty darn quick at doing it(thank you RoboForm!). I’ve really been blessed with winning lots of amazing things – a jet ski, lots of gift cards, watches, jewelry, toys, a little of everything I guess. As to be expected, the larger wins are surreal. They truly are until they arrive in your hands, but each win is super exciting and each win I feel so blessed and thankful for. Currently I have three big boxes full of goodies I’ve won! Of course I enter for things our family needs or goodies I can’t afford but would love to have, and I do keep some for myself and family, but I love to be able to share with my friends and family. That’s what makes me most happy. I even donate to winning goods to a local Bingo joint as prizes for people who win. It’s a great cause, as ALL proceeds go to help others, from the babies, to the elderly in my town. It’s really a fun hobby if you have a little bit of free time.

The Greats

I don’t know about you, but I get some of my greatest creative epiphanies while I’m doing the most mundane of tasks. The idea for my pillows came while I was laying on my couch reading and staring at some boring pillows. Boring I know. Many times they come to me while out in the garden. Maybe it’s the fresh air, the smell of dirt, or the fact that you have to be thinking cause there’s really nothing else to be doing while you strategically pull weeds and huck them into a bucket. This latest idea came to me while driving along listening to Dr. Dre. – yes I’m a big rap fan. I’m really a fan of all kinds of music from jazz to classical to country, but I just happen to be listening to Dre at that moment. I was thinking how much I adored silhouettes and how I’ve been playing in Photoshop making lots for a while now, when I thought how great it would be to make a set of rapper silhouettes to frame. BINGO! I just loved the contrast between the silhouette, which has been known to be a stuffy, prim and proper, piece of art for the longest time, and the modern music icons who don’t fit in that category at all.

I framed it in my hall and absolutely ADORE it! People who come through always stop thinking it’s going to be some regal piece of art, and end up laughing and loving it. I’m thinking I’m going to add prints for sale in my etsy shop. What do you think?

A New Venture

So I’ve recently approached some local boutiques to gauge interest in carrying the goodies I make, and to my delight, they’ve all been interested! So here’s a peek at some lovelies that will be making their way to new homes soon.

Pillows Galore

I have my kiddos football game this morning, so this is a quick one. More eye candy of pillows I’ve been creating. And also me doing what I do best, ahem, being a dork while playing blocks with my daughter.

Witty Pillows

So I’ve embarked on yet another creative venture in the last few months which adds to the already numerous ‘ventures’ I’m currently up to my neck in. I don’t know what it is about me, or my personality, but I get these creative surges and they just won’t subside until they come to fruition. The latest has been more pillows. I’ve decided pillows are both functional and comforting and yet can be tools to portray or express ourselves. So here’s the first of many I’ve made in the studio. More pictures to come. What would you want yours to say?

Merry merry

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here and I love it! Decorations are being put up and Santa’s sugar cookies are baking, yum. Hope your Holidays are lovely and warm!

Almost done

I’ve been bogged down with homework for the whole summer, which isn’t exactly my idea of fun or the ideal summer situation, so I’m so so happy to say that this week is finals week then I’m done done done!(sigh of relief…..) I have lots of photos + stories I’m dying to share when I have a little more time, so please excuse my sporadic presence and sit tight,…..pretty please of course.

I need my studio

So we’ve been building this studio/guest pad space for the past year(yeah, it’s in the “way too many projects going at once” category), but we’re finally getting down to the nitty gritty of finishing it and I am shaking with anticipation for the okay to move my stuff in. You see with me, I’m constantly dreaming up ideas and things to do or make, but my creativity and drive gets snuffed when I have to hunt + gather around the house for what I need, not only does it take FOREVER, but I usually end up frustrated from not finding the last thing I needed(hello rotary cutter that’s you). It’s not that I have horrid organization skills it’s that storage space is limited, so all these goodies end up under my bed, in my closet vying for space with my clothes, + I’m embarrassed to admit but I even have some in my kiddos rooms in their closets. Alright you get it – I’m overloaded here. How do you stay organized?
